The Sun Breath
There are many variations of the sun breath; the following is only one example, and one that I have found to be effective. This variation combines movement, breath, and visualization for optimal results.

Practicing the Sun Breath is simple and is a great way to begin your day or your yoga practice.
- Stand with your feet hip width apart and parallel. Feel your feet firmly planted on the ground, inner and outer edges pressing evenly down. Imagine roots going down from your pelvis, down your legs and into the ground.
- Place your hands gently and lovingly on your belly/solar plexus area. Take a few deep breaths breathing into this area.
- As you continue to breath, visualize a golden light glowing, like a small sun, right under your hands, in the center of your torso.
- Release your hands and stretch out through you fingers. As you inhale, stretch your arms up overhead and see and feel energy streaming into your belly.
- Exhale as you release your arms down. See and feel your energy radiating from your solar plexus out through your body.
- Repeat for several rounds.
- For one minute rest with your arms at your side, and visualize/feel your solar plexus as a small sun, radiating healing, vital energy -- aliveness and health throughout your body.
